Sensory Gym

MOVING CHILDREN TO LEARN

Our intentionally-designed Sensory Gym includes a climbing wall, and a spinning and swinging apparatus to enhance children’s motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness. The Sensory Gym supports emotional regulation, helping children manage feelings and build social skills through cooperative play. Our on-staff Occupational Therapist works with all the children in the Sensory Gym weekly, setting up obstacle courses, games, and activities that challenge them -- all while having fun.

Occupational Therapist and the Sensory Gym

The Sensory Gym is an exceptional tool in the development of young children. All students access the Sensory Gym each week with our Occupational Therapist. The OT program provides a stimulating environment where children engage with various activities designed to enhance their sensory processing skills, along with their strength, balance, and coordination, which are crucial for motor development. The Sensory Gym supports cognitive growth by allowing children to explore cause and effect, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. Sensory play promotes social interaction and communication as children navigate shared spaces and work together on tasks.
